Jesus and His disciples begin to row their boat across the Sea of Galilee. While they were rowing, Jesus fell asleep resting on a cushion in the boat. Suddenly a storm arose and drove great waves of water into the boat, so that it was in danger of sinking; but Jesus slept on. The disciples awoke him saying, "Master, Master, we are lost! Help us, or we shall die!"
Jesus woke up and spoke to the wind and waves. "Peace, be still!" And at once the wind ceased, the waves were quiet, and there was a great calm. Jesus said to his disciples, "why are you afraid?" How is it that you have so little faith in me?"
In January 2009, a raging storm suddenly arose in my life when my late husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer. When we received the report, I was just like the disciples, "yes I was afraid." However, we were faced with the choice of walking in fear or walking in faith. Ultimately, we chose to walk in faith and trust God.
Moreover, it was a tough storm to weather. And at times I was overwhelmed with bouts of anxiety as the enemy flooded my mind with negative thoughts. He worked overtime on me, trying his very best to bring me into doubt and unbelief. But as I continued to trust God, my faith grew stronger and I was able to experience His peace.
What about you? Do you have a storm raging in your life? Is the boisterous wind blowing hard against you? If so, don't be afraid, you are not in the storm alone. God is with you and He can cause your situation to cease. I know it gets tough sometimes, but you got to stay strong and know that this storm will eventually pass.
My friend, it is during these trying times that we must rely on His word that is spoken in Philippians 4:7. "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." ----- There is peace in the midst of the storm.
