No Time To Go AWOL

No  Time  to Go  AWOL

Young Timothy was at his wits end.  His troubles seemed to multiply by the days.  Seemingly, his battles came one after another.  Maybe, just maybe he was at the breaking point of hanging up his armor.

However, it was in the midst of these challenges that the Apostle Paul wrote Timothy and said, "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."  (2 Timothy 2:3)

Have you ever been in such an intense situation that you thought your mind might "break"?  Or have you ever felt like you might mentally collapse from being pushed hard up against the wall with no obvious way of escape?  If the answer is yes, you may relate to what Timothy was going through at the time Paul wrote him.  So what do you do?  Do you keep fighting like Timothy, or do you go AWOL?

As I pen this devotional, I realize some of you are right in the middle of a heated battle.  You may be comtemplating on running away from those things that has brought you the most discomfort.  However, I admonish you to stand strong and fight like a good soldier.

Let's take a second glance at Paul's letter to Timothy.  "Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith."  (1 Timothy 1:18-19)

Though the missiles of life may come to destroy you, but they will never defeat you as long as you walk in Christ.  When you follow Him and obey His commands, you and Him together makes an invincible team that will utterly destroy the enemy himself.  And yes, things may get worse before getting better, but keep in mind that your commanding officer is an awesome God, and He has never lost a battle.
